I joined a facebook group aimed to help authors get reviews and the first book I am given for review is Grace Alive. I got this book without looking at the synopsis and thus not knowing what is it all about. But based on the cover I am quite sure it was a romance story and hmmm, I already began to frown. (I don't read romance and this would be the very first I will try.)
It was an eBook and so I used my iPhone to open the pdf file. The story started with a 26 year old girl grumbling about her sad single life. I am 36 and single so I definitely can understand that part. She also hated her boring job as a' storekeeper', although my job is more interesting and better paid but I too hated my job for some stupid reasons. (This is not about me so I won't list them here)
And then she met a cute guy with 3 kids. Not only that she was attracted to him and as most story goes, they fell in love but in a very different way. I like the story for a few reasons, I can feel the pain, self-condemnation and powerlessness against the world view of being good. I am a christian and got to know God's grace from New Creation Church. Pastor Prince's teachings were the one that helped me during the darkest time of my life. And this book even mentioned about Destined to Reign, a book by Pastor Prince (which I had also read before and so really can relate to both main characters). The guy, Branson, was a guy with a past, a past of sins. Me too am a sinners and it was really hard to get out of self-condemnation so I am encouraged by the characters, how they can accept God's grace and believe in total forgiveness. Those who are forgiven much love much. I truly hope one day I can love much too, just like Branson, despite of the past.
So follow the journey of Zoe seeking her life partner, learning to accept herself and knowing the grace of God. I laughed, cried and loved with her throughout the book. It was a great book.
It is a book I would recommend for people who like romance, christian story.
